On November 30th, 2017, Han Dong, MPP, and his staff hosted the inaugural Trinity-Spadina Outstanding Business Awards event. It was a night to celebrate and highlight the great businesses and entrepreneurs of his riding and to celebrate the role that the BIAs play in the community.
Held at the Polish Combatants Hall at 206 Beverley St, the event drew in representation from all 21 BIAs which included neighboring BIAs of West Queen West, Ossington Ave, City Place and Fort York and the Toronto Entertainment District. Businesses were recognized based on three categories which were Innovation, Originality and Community Service. Liberty Village had three businesses recognized. Each company is unique and outstanding in their own right.
The Post Office Sound won an Innovation Award. They are a full suite audio recording studio. By day they work with commercial clients working on advertisements and neat projects like augmented reality. At night, they turn the studio over to established and also up and coming recording artists. More recently, they are working with some international groups to bring producing and artist workshops to interested people.
Beanfield won a Community Service Award. They have been an incredible community partner. By trade they provide the latest fibre optic technology to businesses and residents. Beyond that, they are working on beautifying a part of the Liberty Village streetscape. This year, they also won a CCSA award in which they then donated $1000 to The Greenest City.
Stitchy Lizard won an Originality Award. They have been around the Liberty Village neighborhood since 2002. People from across the city come to this business to have all of their embroidery, and digitizing needs taken care of. They always provide great service and have made many people’s brands and companies shine.
We look forward to seeing all of the successes of our member businesses. It is great to see the recognition and community involvement that Han Dong, MPP, has made for the businesses in his riding of Trinity-Spadina even though he has a busy schedule. Who will win next year from Liberty Village?
