Give Me Liberty Street Party 2018

Give Me Liberty Street Party 2018:

The 15th Anniversary of the Give Me Liberty Street Party on June 14th was an outstanding success!  To commemorate this milestone, the event started with Councillor Mike Layton hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Give Me Liberty Street Party continues to grow. We had more than 58 vendors and 1000 + attendees this year! Vendors booths included Liberty Village restaurants, retailers, personal services and banks.

A special thank you to our Platinum Partners who help to make this and other Liberty Village BIA events and activities possible throughout the year:

AND, a very big shout out to our Give Me Liberty Sponsors. THANK YOU!!

Players and cheerleaders from our Toronto Champion Sports Teams were all there —

TFC with the MLS Cup; the Toronto Argonauts and their cheerleaders; as well as the Toronto Wolfpack and their newly named mascot, “Jefferson”. We truly appreciate each team taking the time to mingle and take photos with the crowds. Thank you to all for their participation in making the event special one!

A new addition to the Give Me Liberty Event this year was the Pet Fashion Show sponsored by Pet Valu Liberty Village. We extended an invitation to all neighbourhood pets to represent their furry friends in Liberty Village, and they did not disappoint. Liberty Village judges picked their Top 3 Best Dressed Pets and they were awarded with a prize from Pet Valu Liberty Village. They all looked amazing, and each one got a prize for participating!

Give Me Liberty was lucky to have two talented musical performers: Kayla Diamond and Cassie Dasilva.

Cassie Dasilva, an emerging artist from Ontario, opened the show. She released her first single “Welcome to My Castle”, on Universal Music Canada. And, Toronto’s own singer-songwriter Kayla Diamond, headlined the show. She performed her debut single “Carnival Hearts” which is a Top 40 hit across Canada; and her latest single, “What You’re Made Of,” cracked the Top 20 and continues to climb!

The Welcome Tote 2.0 Project

It happened again this year. And what we mean is that the outstanding Welcome Tote project was executed again. Recall, that in 2016, the project was brought back to life after a 5 year hiatus. We were able to offer exclusive access to Liberty Village restaurants, retailers and some services the opportunity to put their name and offers directly at the residents’ fingertips. Working extremely closely with the Liberty Village Residents Association, we gained access to many of the door handles or concierge desks of the condos. This is key as many condo boards do not accept any sort of initiative such as this into the buildings and everything is sent straight to the mail room.

The red tote bags filled with amazing offers from many of our member restaurants and retailers lined the hallways of the condos of Liberty Village.

Welcome Tote by the Numbers:

  • 6000the total number of tote bags being put together and distributed
  • 34the number of participating vendors
  • 38the total number of inserts / items going into each tote bag (the Loblaws four drink pack counted as “1”)
  • 228,000the total amount of inserts / items our team will be handling
  • 40the aprox number of inserters, handlers and staff that will be involved with the project
  • 3the days being used for all preparation
  • 2the days being set aside for distribution to the residents
  • $820 the estimated value of each tote bag
The amazing assortment of promotional offers in each tote!

Our fantastic red tote bag!

A huge thank you to all of the participating vendors and big shoutout to Meridian Credit Union who sponsored a large part of the bag. And we also thought it was suiting to make the bags red to reflect the Canada 150 celebration (also, it is coincidentally one of our branding colors!).
