Celebrating Women in Liberty Village for IWD 2019

The Liberty Village BIA is proud to be celebrating International Women’s Day by recognizing and celebrating the talents, achievements and leadership of women in our community.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we asked Liberty Village business community to submit the names of women they felt deserved to be highlighted. The community answered the call, thank you to all who put names forward to recognize employees, coworkers, connections and friends; special thank you to the men for being allies and amplifying women’s voices.

If you wish to join us in celebrating IWD 2019, it is not too late to participate! On Friday March 8th, post on Instagram using the hashtags #IWD2019inLV #BalanceforBetter and tagging @LIBERTYVILLAGEBIA, we’ll share your posts in our story, and make a compilation of them in a blog post published later in March.

You can also visit our Facebook and Instagram channels throughout the day to help us amplify women’s voices by liking, commenting and sharing the achievements the community is sharing!

Players and cheerleaders from our Toronto Champion Sports Teams were all there —

TFC with the MLS Cup; the Toronto Argonauts and their cheerleaders; as well as the Toronto Wolfpack and their newly named mascot, “Jefferson”. We truly appreciate each team taking the time to mingle and take photos with the crowds. Thank you to all for their participation in making the event special one!

A new addition to the Give Me Liberty Event this year was the Pet Fashion Show sponsored by Pet Valu Liberty Village. We extended an invitation to all neighbourhood pets to represent their furry friends in Liberty Village, and they did not disappoint. Liberty Village judges picked their Top 3 Best Dressed Pets and they were awarded with a prize from Pet Valu Liberty Village. They all looked amazing, and each one got a prize for participating!

Give Me Liberty was lucky to have two talented musical performers: Kayla Diamond and Cassie Dasilva.

Cassie Dasilva, an emerging artist from Ontario, opened the show. She released her first single “Welcome to My Castle”, on Universal Music Canada. And, Toronto’s own singer-songwriter Kayla Diamond, headlined the show. She performed her debut single “Carnival Hearts” which is a Top 40 hit across Canada; and her latest single, “What You’re Made Of,” cracked the Top 20 and continues to climb!
