Lunch time and after work options just got a little more plentiful with some new restaurants and services that have recently opened over the course of the summer months here in Liberty Village.
After many months of anticipation, Maurya has opened. Originally slated to open in the May of 2015, it has kept Liberty Village residents and employees on their toes with an “Opening Soon” sign teasing everyone. For those curry cravings, this is the restaurant to go to.
Maurya has been in business for over 25 years, with their original store located in Etobicoke along Lakeshore Drive. They specialize in Indian curry wrapped in flatbread. Open 7 days a week, they are always available to serve up their dishes at 150 East Liberty, in the bottom of the Liberty Place condos. Enjoy their patio during the summer months.
Paramount Fine Foods
Paramount Fine Foods opened their doors in early August. Taking over the space once occupied by Bar Vespa, Paramount is pleased to offer our neighborhood a menu filled with Middle Eastern cuisine. A lot of time and effort has gone into ensuring a beautiful space for patrons to dine in, complete with chandeliers, waterfall and a patio.
There are many Paramount locations throughout Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, and in select markets in the United States. They specialize in authentic recipes using wood oven baked pita, fresh produce and halal meat which are not only tasty but extremely healthy. Visit them 7 days a week at 165 East Liberty St.
The Village Barbershop
Owned and operated by Julio, The Village Barbershop opened in July. From start to finish, the construction of his shop took about a month. After working for a couple of years at a job that he did not love, Julio decided to turn his passion into his work. While employed at his previous job, he would cut people’s hair in his spare time after hours and out of his house. Having grown up in the Parkdale community and currently a resident of Liberty Village, it just naturally made sense to open his shop in our neighborhood.
The next time you need a cut, consider checking out The Village Barbershop located at 107 Jefferson Ave. Open 6 days a week from 9am to 9pm, they will be able to accommodate lunch time and after work times.
Stay tuned for the following businesses to open in the upcoming months.
