Lamport Stadium is a hub in Liberty Village bringing many people to the area, may it be for events during Caribana, a training facility for the Toronto Argonauts and home to some of the Toronto FC II’s games, or the official home of the Toronto Wolfpack and local community sports leagues. In 2019, major league rugby team the Toronto Arrows also made their Lamport bow playing their final 4 games of the regular season there.
We recently had the chance to catch-up with Jon Pallett, the Toronto Wolfpack’s Vice President of Commercial – in his role with the Toronto Wolfpack he manages Toronto operations as well as marketing and media.
The Toronto Wolfpack is celebrating an exciting milestone next weekend, as they head into the Betfred Championship Grand Final. This winner takes all Playoff final on Saturday October 5th decides which team gets promoted to top-flight Super League for the 2020 season.
With the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA championship, Bianca Andreescu smashing the US Open, and now our very own Toronto Wolfpack one game away from the Super League it’s hard not to be a proud Torontonian!
Sports are known for driving community and our local sports teams really demonstrate this. The Toronto Argonauts, Toronto Football Club, Toronto Arrows and Toronto Wolfpack all support and cheer each other, on and off the pitch. Sharing Lamport Stadium as a training facility brings them even closer.
With the Toronto Wolfpack’s growing popularity and with them heading into the Grand Final and potentially the Super League, the team wants to enhance the experience of their supporters. They have a shared vision with everyone in Liberty Village to maximize Lamport stadium and see improvements made.
The team plans to invest in the stadium, the potential is huge – they love that the venue is intimate, open air, and accessible to people all over the city. “We’re close to the Go Train, King St., and walkable from downtown.” – says Jon. “The improvements would benefit our professional sports teams, the fans, and community.”
Beyond an exciting game the team also knows how to throw engaging community driven events and build a sense of camaraderie. The Wolfpack beat Toulouse Olympique 40-24 on Sunday in the Semi-Final and will now advance directly to host the Betfred Championship Grand Final on Saturday October 5th
“It’s an affordable game experience for families, everyone in Liberty Village, and downtown millennials. We also offer a Go Train combo ticket, bringing more people into the area.” – Jon
